This continuation of Guinevere's story is well done and flows the first book well. The glimpses of daily life of the times is interesting. I also like the way the author is working in all the legends, her explanations of how & why things happened is feasible to the story. One could easily read just the first book and be satisfied, but I've found that I'm enjoying them enough that I'm intrigued as to how she's going to finish. Book 3, here I come!

It was fun seeing this story form the womans point of view, and again somewhat believeable (as in book one) I must admit though , that I am not interested in book 3. there was just not enough to interest me in reading more, at least not at this point. I feel this second book draged just a bit.
This was a strange set of 3 books to me, as I have written about & studied a lot of that time period & the people involved. It presented a mix with Mist of Avalon for the time period, bringing Arthur & his queen to the throne, and the queen's part in the creating & destruction of Camelot. They arent bad books, just very different.
I enjoyed this story because it made the legend of the Round Table real and showed the story from Guinevere's point of view. It showed how things could have been at that time and how people may have made the story magical. I read the Trilogy from the first book through to the third and enjoyed the entire 3 part story. Of course, I like stories of strong women.
We've all heard of the Knights of the Round Table, but I always imagined it with dragons and fairies and Lancelot-the-homewrecker. So naturally, I was skeptical about Camelot "historical" fiction. Lucky for me, Persia Woolley really did her research! She brought to life characters who seemed shallow and two-dimensional in children's books.
I enjoyed this book, as an extention to the first in the Trilogy. Gwen continues her journey thru life as a young woman, and a 'partner' to her young husband, not a 'trophy wife'. She's still a bit of a tomboy, and jointly rules the emerging kingdom with Arthur.

The unpleasant parts of the Ledgends are dealt with, but not dwelled on - time to get on with life and pulling all parts of Britian together.
I probably would have loved this as a teenager as it follows a believable character as she grows into her role in life. From my current status as a senior, it is predictable and rosy in it's view of the world it takes p lace in.
I'm just finishing up the 2nd of 3 books in this series. It is a more extensive look at the basic story, and I understand it is a bit more historical than the movie versions. I would recommend that the reader begins book 2 by writing down the character names\relationships as they appear as many of the names are similar and it is difficult to keep straight who is who at times. I'm looking forward to reading the final book. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the overly long descriptions of landscape, flora, etc. I'm glad I had it on my kindle so I could look up many of "Old English" words that I didn't know.
